Configuration

Quanta is designed to be simple to use, but it requires some initial configuration to connect to your preferred AI provider. This section explains how to set up your API key and choose a model.

Setting Your API Key

1. Click on the Quanta extension icon in the Chrome toolbar to open the popup.
2. Select your preferred AI Provider (Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, or OpenRouter).
3. Paste your API key into the input field.
4. Select your preferred model from the available options.
5. Click "Save". The key will be stored securely in your browser's local storage.

AI Providers

You can choose from several AI providers:

• Google Gemini: Access Google's powerful models.
• OpenAI: Use models like GPT-4 and GPT-3.5.
• Anthropic: Use Claude models.
• Perplexity: Access Perplexity's models.
• OpenRouter: A platform that gives you access to a wide variety of models from different providers.

Note on OpenRouter: OpenRouter shows free models by default in the dropdown. For premium models, you can use the custom model ID field.

Dynamic Model Fetching

Quanta automatically fetches the latest available models from the OpenAI and OpenRouter APIs. This list is cached to avoid making excessive calls, ensuring you always have access to the most up-to-date models without sacrificing performance.
